Skyline to Launch Japan Tour "SKYLINE ft. TAIWAN ALL-STAR JAPAN TOUR 2026" in August 2026, Joining Forces with Taiwan’s All-Star Vocalists and Japanese Jazz Icons Senri Kawaguchi and Yuri Tanaka

In August 2026, Skyline will embark on their Japan tour, "SKYLINE ft. TAIWAN ALL-STAR JAPAN TOUR 2026," alongside an all-star lineup of Taiwanese vocalists and Japanese jazz icons Senri Kawaguchi and Yuri Tanaka.

Spanning six citieso - including Fukuoka, Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya, Yokohama, and Tokyo—this tour centers on Skyline’s latest album, City Voices. The powerhouse lineup features top Taiwanese vocalists and special guests from the Japanese jazz/fusion scene. The Taiwanese contingent brings together a stellar group of Golden Melody Award (GMA) winners and nominees at the forefront of the music industry, including newly crowned GMA Best Taiwanese Female Singer PiA, Matzka, aDAN, SherryZ, P.i.N, and Hao Ku. Showcasing a diverse range of voices from the new generation to established veterans, their R&B, Soul, Latin, Neo-Soul, and singer-songwriter narratives will come to life through Skyline’s dynamic full-band live instrumentation.

Representing Japan, acclaimed drummer Senri Kawaguchi will join the tour for the Fukuoka and Nagoya shows. A rising powerhouse in the Japanese jazz/fusion scene, Kawaguchi garnered international attention at an early age for her precise, explosive drumming. She has collaborated with numerous domestic and international artists across fusion jazz, pop, and crossover genres. Her collaboration with Skyline promises to inject a high-octane, fast-paced Japanese fusion groove into the performances. For the Nagoya, Yokohama, and Tokyo dates, Yuri Tanaka will join as a special guest. As the lead vocalist of the Japanese jazz/city pop band BLU-SWING, Tanaka’s delicate, warm, and airy vocals have long been the signature of the band, which is beloved globally for its sophisticated blend of jazz, soul, club jazz, and city pop. Her joint performances with Skyline and the Taiwanese vocalists will foster a direct, high-energy exchange of grooves between Taiwanese and Japanese musicians, delivering an unforgettable cross-border live collaboration.

Since its formation in 2003, Skyline has spent over two decades pioneering the possibilities of fusion jazz in Taiwan. Grounded in a cross-genre sound that blends Jazz, Funk, R&B, Soul, Latin, City Pop, and Electronic music, the band integrates Taiwanese urban sensibilities and local culture to forge a highly distinctive crossover musical identity.

Over the years, Skyline has collaborated with world-class musicians such as Eric Marienthal, Frank Gambale, Vinnie Colaiuta, Abraham Laboriel, Paul Jackson Jr., Gerald Albright, and Alain Caron. The band has also received multiple nominations for Taiwan's prestigious Golden Melody Awards and Golden Indie Music Awards. In 2015, Skyline performed at the Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia, and in 2016, they embarked on an Asian tour that included Japan, continuously bringing Taiwanese jazz and crossover music to the international stage.

Their latest album, City Voices, marks a major new creative chapter following the band's 20th anniversary. Centered on vocal collaborations, the project features several of Taiwan’s most iconic singers and songwriters. Skyline seamlessly fuses its long-honed instrumental mastery as a core band with the urban narratives delivered through vocals. By blending the improvisational vocabulary of jazz musicians with the melodic sensibilities of pop vocalists, they present a fresh take on Asian fusion music. The album won Gold Awards for "Best Jazz Album" and "Best Fusion Album," alongside Silver Awards for "Best Urban Album" and "Best Compilation Album" at the LIT Music Awards. It also secured a Silver Award at the Global Music Awards and earned five nominations at the InterContinental Music Awards (ICMA) for Best Jazz/Crossover, Best R&B/Soul, and Best Hip-Hop. Additionally, it was nominated for "Best Jazz Album" and "Best Jazz Song" at the Wave Music Awards in China, while the track "Elevate the Night" (feat. Eve Ai) was selected as one of Apple Music’s Top 100 Songs of 2025.

"SKYLINE ft. TAIWAN ALL-STAR JAPAN TOUR 2026" unites a band that has long led the development of Taiwanese fusion jazz, a diverse array of voices symbolizing the contemporary Taiwanese pop/R&B/soul scenes, and stellar musicians from the Japanese jazz/fusion world. This rare Japan tour offers a unique opportunity to experience the current state of Taiwanese music and witness the brand-new possibilities of Asian crossover music.
